Infamies of the Soul Challenge

Day 1 Challenge: The Mirror of Accountability

“Blessed is the one who is preoccupied with their own faults instead of the faults of others.” – Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

Today, shift your focus inward. Reflect on a personal flaw you’ve been ignoring or justifying. Write it down and confront it honestly. Use this day to resist the urge to judge or critique others. Let your energy be directed toward self-improvement and sincerity.

Reflect on this:

  • What personal flaw did you identify and reflect on today?
  • What does it mean to you to not judge others, and how by avoiding this can it affect a person’s inner peace and spiritual state?

Tips for Success:

  1. Sit quietly in the morning and write down one fault you recognize in yourself.
  2. At the end of the day, journal one fault you noticed and make du’a for strength to overcome it.
  3. Perform one act of kindness anonymously, keeping it between you and God.

Day 2 Challenge: Battling Laziness and Excuses

“O God, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debt, and from being overpowered by men.”
– Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) (Bukhari)

Reflect on a good deed or act of worship you’ve been delaying. Is it memorizing Qur’an, or giving in charity? Identify the excuses your nafs (ego) presents and break the cycle today by acting on that deed immediately.

Reflection for the Day:

  • What delayed action will you, or did you complete today?
  • How would overcoming laziness in a specific matter that relates to you change your life?

Tips for Success:

  1. Write down one small act of worship you’ve been neglecting.
  2. Perform it immediately after Fajr or Dhuhr to avoid excuses.
  3. Reduce indulgences (e.g., social media, idle talk) to create space for reflection and action.
  4. Set your alarm at least 15 minutes earlier for Fajr and commit to waking for tahajjud and begging your Lord for assistance.

Day 3 Challenge: Engage in Dhikr and Seek Strength

“Unquestionably, by the remembrance of God hearts are assured.” – Quran 13:28

Dedicate time today to engage in remembrance of God. Let your tongue remain moist with “Astaghfirullah” or “SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi” throughout the day. Focus on connecting your heart to God’s mercy and guidance as you battle internal struggles.

Reflection for the Day:

  • How did remembrance affect your state of mind and heart today?
  • What insights emerged from constant remembrance of God?

Tips for Success:

  1. Start the day with 5-10 minutes of focused remembrance in silence.
  2. Each time you feel frustration, judgment, or laziness, replace it with remembrance.
  3. Write a supplication at the end of the day asking God for continued strength and sincerity.
  4. Before sleeping, perform two rakats of gratitude, thanking God for guiding you toward self-awareness and improvement.
